122 King Street is the only house still standing from the original King's Addition, laid out and approved in 1843 by the son and nephew of Christian and William King, prominent merchants in early Lancaster and from whom King Street takes its name. The house has had several owners, including Theodore Tong, a Lancaster tailor and brother to the founder of the town of Carroll; Charles M. L.Wiseman, who held several positions in Lancaster, including postmaster, and was the author of Pioneer Period and Pioneer People of Fairfield County; and George and Georgia Smith, the latter a milliner in Lancaster. Current owners, Jack and Linda Knicely first renovated the house in 1986 when it was covered in peeling-off stucco and have recently completed a second renovation of the property.
